The American Staffing Association is seeking a candidate for Manager, Member Engagement. This position is responsible for supporting the association’s member engagement networks including sections, interest groups, other member networks, and ASA Central (online member community). Responsibilities includes coordination of volunteer council calls; writing, marketing, proofreading, and correspondence; day to day management of online member community; and other various membership functions for the department. This position is ideal for a tech-savvy, creative, critical thinker with top-notch organizational and customer service skills. Connecting and engaging with members based on interests and issues is at the core of this position. Some travel may be necessary.
Nature and Scope of Responsibilities:
Member Networks and Volunteer Management
Assists with the management and administrative support for the association’s council volunteers including managing smaller work group tasks.
Coordinates and schedules events and programs that support the goals for sections, interest groups, and other member networks
Assists with the development and execution of all marketing relative to member network initiatives and coordinates with other departments as necessary
Responsible for implementing annual section volunteer nomination process and confirmation, including volunteer recognition and annual Volunteer of the Year award
Oversees all technical aspects of the ASA Central community. This includes working with the community vendor to address, resolve, and communicate any issues related to the features and functionality of the platform and implementing new features as necessary.
Develops and implements a community engagement plan based on best practices to increase engagement. Monitors and measures the success of community engagement and provide reports to executives
Works with the membership team to recruit and retain members assisting with renewal outreach phone calls, membership reports, and membership marketing efforts.
Position requirements and qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Three to five years of industry or association experience including working with volunteer leaders and non-profit committees or boards; social media and/or online community experience, coordinating membership recruitment and retention activities
Natural born networker and communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff and members.
Ability to work independently, but also contribute to a collaborative team environment
Demonstrated ability to write, edit, and proofread effectively and clearly for various audiences
Knowledge of and proficiency with all Microsoft-based programs, including Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with iMIS membership database highly desirable. Experience using content management system, web content publishing experience or HTML skills also desirable
Demonstrated competency with social media platforms and prior experience with community management. Familiarity with Higher Logic Connected Community platform highly desirable.
