Director of Research and Content Strategy
The Manufacturers Alliance (MAPI) in Arlington, VA seeks a Director of Research and Content Strategy, who will serve both MAPI and its Foundation by generating business management and research content relative to the manufacturing sector. This newly created position also plays a key role in setting the overall content strategy and in working with trusted outside partners to generate manufacturing-related research.
Research Strategy & Management
Collaborates with MAPI’s Senior Leadership Team to develop both the content strategy and the insight-driven content to assist senior manufacturing executives in making smarter business decisions
Partners with sales, Council Directors, and Marketing to support the positioning of research and other content with multiple audiences
Manages a team of two research professionals
Coordinates with internal teams to conceptualize and create independent thought-pieces on issues that drive business management decisions of U.S. manufacturers.
Helps identify topics and content most valuable to MAPI members, and designs and executes a strategy to create that content
Leads content curation efforts, including identifying relevant external content, summarizing, developing and sharing a unique “MAPI point of view”
Collaborates and manages research projects with external trusted partners to produce joint research on manufacturing-related issues.
At least 8-10 years or more of related experience with research, content creation and project management in a corporate, association, communications (media or journalism), or advisory environment. Experience with manufacturing related content highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expertise in taking knowledge and transforming it into practical, useful content is critical.
Ability to produce innovative research products using a variety of primary and secondary sources including survey data, interviews, and public data sources.
Excellent verbal and writing skills. Must be able to draft and edit content quickly, and effectively present key strategies and tactics to Executive Leadership and other audiences.
Demonstrated project management experience, including an ability to efficiently plan, prioritize and manage multiple complex projects with limited direct supervision.
Ability to develop strong working relationships with senior executives and internal stakeholders to deliver highly relevant content to meet their business’ needs.
Highly collaborative management and work style, demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse and cross-functional teams.
Understanding of sampling, data collection mechanisms, and survey design.
People management experience with a track record developing talent and mentoring junior staff.
Bachelors degree in related field.
