ASME generates approximately $110 million annually from the sale of products and services and provides a wide range of mission focused programs and activities. We are currently seeking a Manager of Engineering Sciences Segment Operations in our office in Houston, TX.
The Engineering Sciences Segment (ESS) engages groups and individuals developing content focused on fundamental engineering sciences used in a broad range of technical industries and applications. The Segment supports technical content development in Bioengineering, Heat Transfer, Fluids, Environmental Engineering, Advanced Materials, Applied Mechanics and a range of other disciplines.
The Manager, Engineering Sciences Segment Operations works closely with our volunteer Division and Segment leaderships to ensure that conferences, publications, and other activities undertaken by those groups align with ASME strategy and policies and also meet the needs of our volunteers and customers. Working closely with the Managing Director of Technical Conference & Events, the Manager will work with Conference and Event staff and delegate tasks as appropriate.
Additional responsibilities include:
Development, execution and implementation of strategic plans
Coordinating operations and activities for Segment Leadership Team and Divisional Committees
Assisting in planning, organizing, promoting and administering all conference activity of that Segment
Exploring opportunities for new R&D event activities, crafting business plans/budgets and working with Managing Director, Technical Conference & Events to bring to market
Preparation of annual operating budgets
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years’ experience in industry, an association or society. A proven ability to effectively manage operations and facilities are essential. Strong leadership, problem solving and strategic planning skills are also a must, along with excellent communication, initiative & follow-up skills. Society employment or volunteer experience is required. Travel is required.
