The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) is the national association representing the real estate finance industry. As the leading advocate for the real estate finance industry, the MBA represents and serves its members through a comprehensive array of capabilities and tools that enable members to successfully deliver fair, sustainable and responsible real estate financing within ever-changing business environments.
The MBA is seeking a strong Director, Commercial Real Estate Finance (CREF) to be responsible for activities and initiatives directly linked to retaining and attracting Commercial/Multifamily members. The Director, CREF will serve as a lead staff for member constituencies, working with member leadership and managing relationships to deliver member value. Reporting to the Vice President, CREF, this important leader will oversee CREF membership retention and updates and develop solutions to address member needs and interests.
Major Responsibilities include:
Develop initiatives designed to enhance and increase CREF member engagement, particularly among focused member constituencies and sectors, and among different functional roles within member companies.
Manage member-related aspects of meetings including developing agendas and organizing speakers, facilitators, schedules, and rosters to achieve maximum member participation and satisfaction.
Contribute to the development, maintenance, and implementation of a comprehensive CREF member engagement strategy.
Interface with member leadership to develop strategic objectives, expand engagement, and enhance value to the member group.
Contribute to the development of content and structure of Commercial Real Estate Finance/Multifamily Housing Convention, the CREF Servicing & Technology Conference panels, and meetings for assigned constituencies.
Develop and draft succinct and cogent communications to MBA member audiences on the range of business and industry matters impacting CREF finance to strengthen member engagement and participation.
Review and provide substantive analyses on business, industry, regulatory, and legislative matters.
Coordinate with the SVP and AVP, CREF Policy to develop policy positions, reviewing comment letters and communications to members, media, and regulators/legislators.
Manage projects and CREF committees, working groups, task forces, and other groups, enlisting member participation and forging consensus.
Keep abreast of developments relating to CREF mortgage industry through various means such as industry publications, attending meetings, and contact with the industry.
Qualified candidates will offer a bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred, and a minimum of five years of related experience, including CREF knowledge. Applicants must have client services, communication, and project management skills. MBA is seeking individuals with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities and strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills. Ideal candidates will also have knowledge of Public Policy and trade associations and will be able to function efficiently and prioritize work in fast-paced environment.
