The Manager, Database and Software Development is responsible for managing the Association’s integrated databases, website development, IT applications, as well as supporting membership projects. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, designing, developing, testing, programming and maintenance of internal and third-party databases and software solutions.
II. BASIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages new implementations and upgrades of all database and website related technology software.
Develops and maintains the Association’s software applications and associated documentation using the systems development life cycle (SDLC) model.
Writes programs to interface with other databases and systems.
Collaborates with software developers, database administrators, and project managers to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain software applications.
Completes projects involving new and existing systems, solutions and processes.
Assists with web-based (ASP, NET) goals and objectives.
Participates in project planning and development.
Guides team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
Assists project teams and other IT staff with software systems initiatives including web, back-end, systems and database.
Manages and maintains security and integrity of Association’s databases and software applications including Microsoft SharePoint.
Assists with operational and day-to-day activities in connection with database, website and network-related issues.
Generates reports from iMIS (CMR), MS Dynamics (Accounting), and Ceridian (Payroll) systems. Troubleshoots and resolves SQL server network and client related issues connected with existing and new databases.
Provides technical assistance and training to national office and chapter staff on database applications in use within NASW. Responds to user requests for assistance when problems arise.
Reviews and updates stored procedures for optimal performance. Monitors and troubleshoots SQL jobs using available tools, review logs and triage issues. Performs code reviews, provides feedback in a timely manner. Incorporates feedback from code reviews as appropriate.
Interfaces with application vendors as required.
Provides after hours technical, website and database support.
Provides technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
Assists in the preparation of department’s annual budget: oversees and tracks department’s monthly expenditures and revenues.
Manages assigned staff to ensure accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities through delegation of work, priority determination, and work review.
Coordinates cross functional technology teams in the delivery of IT services by leading research/discovery, acquisition, development, implementation, and production support.
Develops contingency plans to cover various systems failure scenarios and applications software systems recovery and restoration procedures.
Anticipates customer needs and ensure that those needs are fully met through collaboration with the business areas.
Prioritizes and assigns work for team members. Ensures team members are appropriately trained and mentored to accomplish assigned work.
Develops and implements staff training and development plans to provide job related training and opportunities for staff development.

Ability to drive continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology, math or a related field. Master’s preferred.
MCDB certification or equivalent relevant experience required.
Working knowledge of SQL server, SQL programming, HTML, XML, Java or Java Script, and Crystal Reports.
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and association CRM applications (preferably MS Dynamics and iMIS).
Knowledge of implementing and maintaining standard software architecture frameworks.
Prior experience managing software development teams (preferred).
Prior experience in software engineering, including coding, architecture and/or design.
Prior experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers (preferred).
Prior experience managing employees, teams and/or interacting with senior leadership.
Prior experience leading cross-functional teams (preferred).
Prior experience developing employees, performance management and delivering results (preferred).
Experience with storage media technologies and cloud storage business.
Project management framework or related experience and development processes to deliver high quality software, in rapid iterations, for business partners.
Experience in SharePoint management, DotNetNuke and/or Crystal Reports (preferred).
Experience in the SDLC model and in development of supporting SDLC software documentation.
