Manage marketing program supporting the goals of the Society. Responsible for marketing the following areas: Education and Professional Development, Conferences, Products, Career Center, Bookstore, MCA, and Salary Survey. Also responsible for communicating Society messages to our membership via PR and social media channels.
Work with Director of Marketing to manage coordinated and integrated marketing program supporting the goals of the Society. Responsible for marketing the following areas: Education and Professional Development, Conferences, Products, Career Center, Bookstore, MCA, and Salary Survey.
Contribute to the annual marketing plan for the organization, including identification of objectives, audiences, vehicles, messages, and time lines.
Provide marketing expertise and support for above areas. Develop, implement, and monitor plans and budgets to promote products, services, and events in these areas.
Develop promotional messages to include brochures, ads, e-promotions, letters, press releases, postcards, member correspondence, web text, and presentations in conjunction with staff and content specialist.
Serve as the lead on the annual Salary and Benchmarking Survey.
Serve as lead marketer and provide support in planning, promoting, and facilitating the annual marketing awards program.
Represent SMPS if needed on site for tradeshows and conferences.
Work collaboratively with staff to schedule, plan, draft, and distribute headquarters marketing materials.
Oversee marketing communications projects with designers, printers, mail houses, and other vendors to execute marketing projects.
Target and generate in-house lists as needed.
Research marketing trends, avenues, and costs.
Develop media and peer group lists in target cities (determined by project) and the annual media contact list. Serve as media contact. Prepare and distribute Society press releases.
Gather competitive intelligence on relevant peer group and industry trends and programs. Make recommendations on strategy to senior staff.
Work with Director of Marketing and Designer to schedule the Society’s e-promotions. Maintain the weekly schedule working to minimize the number of e-promotions while maximizing campaign results.
Implement and oversee the Society’s social media efforts including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.
Assist with questions on the SMPS Chat service.
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Five to seven years’ experience in marketing membership, services, and products, preferably for nonprofits. Experience with an architectural, engineering, construction, interior design, or related design or building industry association is a plus.
Thorough knowledge of concepts, strategies, and best practices for marketing and public relations.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Some skill in desktop publishing using Adobe applications. Familiarity with email service providers such as Mail Chimp.
Ability to anticipate and plan integrated public relations and marketing program.
