Organizational and Position Overview
Nested within the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA) is a professional home for clinicians and researchers working on the front lines of the HIV epidemic. You will represent HIVMA as a Program and Policy Manager who will manage clinical fellows, medical student and member awards programs, including marketing, managing the selection process, evaluating the program and supporting awardees. You will serve as lead staff contact for HIVMA-related IDWeek activities, including supporting the development of the HIV track and support efforts to advance policy and advocacy activities with a focus on healthcare workforce issues.
FLSA Classification - Exempt
Clinical Fellowship Program (30%)
Staff the Clinical Fellowship Committee including managing the review and selection process.
Coordinate and develop strategies for promoting the program and recruiting applicants, including identifying and managing exhibits at conferences as appropriate.
Identify and develop with input from committee members, training and educational resources to support HIV clinical fellows.
Maintain communications with fellows and mentors to offer support and monitor progress during the training year and track their career trajectory following completion of the program.
Oversee program pre and post-fellowship training evaluation process.
Assist with developing a supportive network or forum for HIV training program directors and trainees to connect and share best practices.
Grants for Emerging Researchers and Mentorship Program (G.E.R.M. Program) (30%)
Staff the G.E.R.M. Committee including managing the application, review and selection process.
Coordinate and develop strategies in conjunction with IDSA Foundation staff for promoting the program and recruiting applicants.
Coordinate and develop the program evaluation including the pre and post-test evaluation.
Identify and coordinate opportunities for medical student awardees to interact with each other and with IDSA and HIVMA members and to promote their experience to members and funders.
Serve as primary contact for HIVMA-related IDWeek activities.
Coordinate networking and educational events for medical students and clinical fellows at IDWeek.
Provide staff support to the HIVMA IDWeek representatives with developing the HIV track and other activities in collaboration with the HIVMA executive director.
Association Awards (10%)
Provide staff support to the Association Award Committee.
Identify marketing opportunities to solicit nominations and to develop promotional materials.
Coordinate and prepare awards presentations during IDWeek.
Public Policy and Advocacy (10%)
Support efforts to advance policy and advocacy activities with a focus on healthcare workforce issues by representing HIVMA at related briefings, events and coalition meetings.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
A minimum 2 to 3 year’s work experience in health policy, health sciences or public health
Intermediate level proficiency in working with the Microsoft Office suite
Strong analytical, written and verbal communication, project management and organizational skills
Experience and/or interest in HIV, public health or health disparities
High level of initiative and attention to detail
Interest and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
