The HR Certification Institute (HRCI) is seeking a Director of Finance to be responsible for the day-to-day managing of the finance and accounting activities. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director will develop, implement, and maintain controls, policies, and procedures that meet or exceed industry best practices and are in alignment with HRCI’s vision, mission, and values. This position will assist the CFO and work collaboratively with members of the HRCI team and external vendors.
Major Responsibilities include:
Provide leadership to HRCI’s Finance & Accounting teams.
Interact with all organizational levels to ensure finance and accounting functions are effectively managed and support the strategic objectives and growth of HRCI.
Implement and administer financial accounting, reporting, and expense systems; troubleshoot integration and general use issues; create and modify reports to provide speed and efficiency in reporting and analyzing information; train others on use of the systems.
Manage the annual external audit and act as primary liaison with the external auditors.
Manage tax and regulatory filings, including IRS Form 990.
Manage the process for the monthly and annual close of financial statements in a timely manner.
Develop, implement, and manage a cash management and cash forecasting process.
Develop and document controls, policies, and procedures that meet or exceed industry best practices.
Assist with the annual budget and semi-annual forecast.
Manage the bi-weekly payroll - ensure that timesheets are completed with approvals and prepare required reporting and payments to fund the benefit accounts.
Manage the process of reviewing and approving all bills.
Assist with tasks and requests related to the Audit/Finance Committee of the Institute.
Coordinate with the Director, Information Technology and Accounting Manager to ensure data from the Association Management System impacting the general ledger is accurate and timely.
Seek continual improvement opportunities for finance and accounting processes and procedures.
Supervise Accounting Manager, Finance Coordinator, Senior Accountant, and Accounting and Office Administrator.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of five years of related experience; Master’s degree, CPA, and Public Accounting Experience preferred. HRCI is seeking candidates with experience in accounting, performance management, and project management software and familiarity with payroll software and HRIS. Ideal candidates will have advanced Excel and reporting skills with the ability to create high quality reports by quickly synthesizing and analyzing information. Demonstrated problem solving skills and effective negotiation skills are also required.
