We are looking for a highly motivated and detail oriented Associate Director of Membership to professionally run the day to day operations of our Membership Department. The qualified candidate is a self-starter with exceptional leadership skills who will provide guidance and support to team members. This position’s focus is on membership growth and retention amongst diverse demographics. It also ensures the department delivers outstanding customer service and accurate record-keeping of all member data. This position will oversee the department team members by providing leadership, mentoring, and a high quality of work across the department. This position will work closely and collaboratively with the Vice President and council officers towards growing membership through recruitment and retention.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Assists members in areas such as retention, contact information, billing cycles, and explanation of policies as needed/required.
Ensures accurate NLUS council officer and committee member listings in Raiser’s Edge.
Works with the Vice President of Membership to institute policies and programs.
Maintains and writes new department SOPs.
Coordinates with the technology department to solve problems, run queries, reports, and ensure the member portal and the database are in sync.
Updates and/or works with the technology department to ensure membership web content is accurate.
Ensures the membership suite is responding to phone calls and emails in a timely fashion. Establishes and regularly measures customer service metrics.
Makes suggestions for changes in existing policy or implementation of new policies.
Executes decisions on changes to individual records when necessary.
Ensures annual report data is accurately updated in council organization records.
Works with Vice President to develop renewal communications and manage each renewal cycle.
Regularly QA’s data-entry to ensure compliance with SOPs and data-entry standards. Retrains staff as needed.
Assists with the membership committee as called upon being able to step in for the Vice President, if needed.
Oversees daily batch uploads, timely responses to member queries and streamlining day-to-day operations in membership suite.
Mentor and coach member service representatives and senior manager ensuring a positive and respectful work environment.
Ensures members are stewarded through the life cycle.
Able to run various statistical reports as needed and assist Vice President in analysis of membership data.
Knowledge of non-profit membership operations.
Ability to use word processing, database and spreadsheet software.
Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of formats and situations.
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments.
Experience gathering and summarizing information.
Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Desire to work among diverse colleagues and clients.

At least three years membership, marketing and supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge of or experience with military a plus.
Telecommuting is allowed.
Additional Salary Information: Full-time employees accrue 112 vacation hours per calendar year, which are eligible for carry over to the following calendar year up to 240 hours. The Navy League offers a 5% contribution to the employee 403(b) after one year of employment. Employees may begin contributing on the first day of employment. The employer offers single coverage for health, dental, and vision plus a contribution to the employee's HRA.
