Located in the Washington, DC area, ATA represents physicians and scientists who are dedicated to the advancement, understanding, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disorders and thyroid cancer. The Executive Director is the chief executive of the American Thyroid Association, reporting to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director manages the association’s programs and business operations and is responsible for the direction, administration and coordination of the Association in all of its activities.

The ideal candidate is a distinguished executive (graduate degree preferred), with progressive experience with a national or international medical society. This position requires a visionary and committed individual with a collegial management style who easily engages, staff, members and constituents. The Executive Director candidate must have integrity and self-confidence, and is pragmatic, responsive, resourceful, and personable. In addition, the ideal candidate is a creative professional with strong business acumen and demonstrated problem solving skills. Candidates with established networks in the healthcare arena are preferred. Prior experience leading a membership organization and/or non-profit organization is desirable. CAE designation is considered a plus.
