The International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) is a dynamic global medical/scientific professional society in the field of bleeding and clotting disorders. As we expand our work and impact, we are seeking a talented professional to manage several programmatic committees and related activities of the Society. The goals of these programmatic efforts are to support key scientific committees and to create clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) that ultimately lead to improved care and positive outcomes for patients with blood disorders.

The ISTH Programs and Education Coordinator is a new position on the ISTH team and will be an important member of the Education Department. Under the general supervision of the ISTH Education Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for the administrative support of the ISTH Education Committee, its subcommittees and all its related initiatives. This role directly contributes to the Society’s mission and business success by playing a key role in the creation of new educational offerings and the training of early career professionals.
The successful candidate will have an educational design background for both traditional and online education. A strong candidate ideally has experience providing support to high-level professionals and talented volunteer committees in a scientific or international setting. The position requires strong attention to detail, along with cross-cultural and cross-functional relationship building. The role works independently within defined schedules to accomplish a variety of complex and routine activities in order to move key education and committee initiatives forward.
ISTH Academy Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support to the ISTH online learning management system, including general maintenance, updating of basic information, answering public comments/questions, quality assurance
Administer the yearly webinar series by coordinating the logistics of speaker timing, email correspondence with the Education Committee, and working with the A/V vendor for speaker training and the live webinar taping
Support the creation and design of online education modules by working with expert contributors and medical education vendors
Reach the World Responsibilities:
Provide support to the Education Committee outreach program through correspondence with the liaisons for supported educational courses and Reach the World programs
Coordinate the application process for yearly Fellowship applications, working with the Committee for scoring, tracking and reporting on completed fellowships. Maintain email communications with current Fellows
Provide support to the Regional Training Center (RTC)program through phone and email correspondence with RTC liaisons
Education and Outreach Responsibilities:
Contribute to the creation of scientific workshops, working with the Committee to develop the program, confirm speakers, and collaborate with the ISTH Meetings Team for onsite logistics
Provide support to the management of the ISTH Education Committee by supporting the programs and activities as needed through correspondence, scheduling, keeping minutes, creating reports, and providing general information when requested by committee or ISTH members
Provide support to other Committees and/or ad hoc special projects as they arise, as designated by the Director or Programs and Outreach Manager
Perform other duties as assigned

Familiar with project management software (such as GANNT, Basecamp, or the equivalent), databases
Basic HTML programming experience is preferred
Experience with Association Management Software and Content Management Systems is a plus
Professional-level commitment, including some evenings and weekends consistent with timing of international meetings; ability to travel domestically and internationally once per year depending on need
Ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
Desire to learn and contribute
Strong multicultural sensitivity
Bi- or multi-linguality is a significant plus
Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in a similar role and track record in educational design, including project or program management, ideally in a scientific/medical association or society and international environment
This position is located in the Carrboro, North Carolina office
It is a primarily sedentary role and may require some bending, lifting and filing
This position may require minimal national or international travel (1 trip per year)
Full-time, exempt position (40 hours/week)
