AASA, The School Superintendents Association, is seeking a Director of Membership and Marketing to develop and implement the association’s membership marketing programs to recruit, retain and reactivate members. In addition this individual will participate in the marketing of other Association events, programs and services.

Develops and Implements Membership Marketing Programs
Develops strategies and campaign plans to acquire, retain and reactivate members.
Reviews and evaluates membership marketing activities.
Reviews the benefits of Association membership.
Considers how best to communicate with current and potential members.
Evaluates lapsed members to determine cause and mitigation.
Works with outside vendor to develop cost effective membership campaigns.
Monitors and reports the effectiveness of recruitment and retention efforts to manager, LT and if appropriate association leadership.
Prepares annual membership marketing budget.
Participates in Other Association Marketing Programs
Identifies Association programs that would benefit from expanded marketing.
Evaluates current marketing efforts for such programs.
Works with program managers (or PMO) to enhance marketing activities.
Determines the cost effectiveness of expanded marketing efforts.
Assists the Association to clarify its public outreach and brand.
Monitors the Use of Association Management System
Understands the architecture of the membership database.
Reviews how information is entered into and retrieved from the database.
Reviews security procedures to assure that records are properly protected.
Reviews the content and format of periodic reports to Association leadership.
Considers how to relate member records to marketing activities.
Assists in the preparation of budget and expense reports.
Education: Degree in marketing, business administration, communications or a closely related field is expected.
Experience: At least five years of marketing experience in an association or other individual membership or consumer organization is expected. Additional experience in an advertising agency or public relations firm is highly desirable.
Skills: Written and oral communication skills are essential in this position. Familiarity with the design and use of computer databases is desirable.
Physical Demands: Regular use of desktop and laptop computers is common. Travel may be required and longer than normal hours of work at meetings and conferences may be expected.
