Maintains the general ledger and prepares financial reports for AFCEA, the Educational Foundation and the National Intelligence University Foundation (NIUF). Performs analysis of financial data, cash management, liaisons with banks, vendors and other departments to integrate financial systems, coordinates and manages the activities of the staff accountants, maintains internal control standards and assists the CFO in various projects.
Primary Duties include:
Supervisory role of two staff accountants
Maintains, monitors and reconciles the AFCEA, the Educational Foundation and NIUF general ledgers
Completes month-end closings procedures
Reconciles membership, event, patron, advertising, PDC, scholarships, and subscription systems and integrates financial information from subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger
Maintains and reconciles fixed asset modules. Calculates monthly depreciation expense reports, adds and disposes of assets as needed. Codes all departments and company depreciation expenses into the general ledger
Prepares and calculates each organizational and departmental payroll expense, employee fringe benefits, organizational insurance, and codes each expense into each corresponding general ledger account
Inputs general ledger entries for payroll distribution for Events
Calculates and codes Europe income and expense into general ledger
Records ad agency and rep commission expense
Records various merchandise sales and adjusts inventory accounts
Codes all Inter-company transfers between AFCEA, the Educational Foundation and NIUF
Serves as back-up for bi-weekly payroll administration
Education & Experience:
Education: BS in Accounting, Finance or related field desired
Experience: Previous progressive accounting experience (5-7 years) or Controller experience; Association experience desired
Experience with Great Plains accounting software and payroll highly preferred
