The American Urological Association (AUA), the premier urologic association providing support to the urologic community, is currently searching for a Payroll Accounting Specialist with ADP and General Ledger experience.
This position is responsible for semi-monthly preparation of payroll and related month reconciliations and analysis of the payroll and benefits function for the organization. Prepares annual salary and benefit budget schedules for the budget process.
Process semi-monthly payroll and prepare all related reports.
Maintains both payroll and benefit schedules to track timely pertinent data.
Prepares, understands, and transmits 403(b), 457(b) & (f) and retirement plans reports for direct debit from company checking account.
Reconciles all general ledger accounts relating to payroll.
Prepares numerous payroll and benefit schedules to be used for the annual budget for all departments.
Maintains monthly standard entries and recurring entries.
Provides support at the annual meeting, if needed.
Prepares quarterly MD sales and use tax filings and makes quarterly federal and state UBIT payments.
Responsible for the review of timesheets in ADP, ensuring compliance with company policy
Processes all employee changes and verifies data entered by HR while ensuring proper documentation
Enters and tracks employees COMP time and monitors other leave types
Processes all other payroll items including manual checks, new hires, terminations, STD, employee expense reimbursements and others
Prepares journal entries to post to the general ledger for each payroll
Analyzes reports relating to benefit information to ensure accurate and consistent information is being processed
Verifies all government-related forms and tax filings prepared by ADP as well as completes any questionnaires requiring payroll data
Prepares/maintains working papers for benefits and reconciles all payroll-related accounts
Prepares monthly proof of cash for payroll and flexible spending bank accounts
Prepares reports with most current employee data for the TRS and indicates the amount to be deducted from bank account
Reconciles information to the applicable general ledger account

To be Successful
Candidate requirements are as follows:
BS/BA degree required with a concentration in Accounting preferred
2-3 years’ experience in an accounting environment using automated accounting software. At least 2-3 years’ experience using ADP’s web platform (current release)
Analytical skills necessary to perform account reconciliations and analyze detailed account balances
Excellent written and oral communication skills enabling effective communication with all levels of staff and all personalities
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel required
