The Program Development Manager/Instructional Designer is responsible for all aspects of project management related to learning content that ASA University provides its member organizations. This includes designing, updating, enhancing, researching, editing, and making content available to members. As a member of the Education Foundation staff, the Program Development Manager is also responsible for achieving the team sales and expense goals.
Essential Job Functions
Designs training interventions that incorporate best practices in behavioral and cognitive sciences to effectively address member performance needs and issues.
Manages project plans, budgets, procedures and materials to meet ASA training needs to serve our members.
Leads design, development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs.
Develops training materials appropriate for the target audience and uses adult learning theory to boost learning impact and retention.
Serves as liaison and facilitator to subject matter experts, vendors, reviewers, or other content providers to execute course developments and updates.
Responsible for original creative design for home-grown content, including but not limited to ideation, scriptwriting, audiovisual editing, build-out, quality assurance, and deployment.
Examines alternative approaches to training deployment, conducts cost/benefit analyses, and makes recommendations for enhancements to educational programming.
Selects, contracts, manages, consults with and evaluates external contractors/outside vendors to accomplish project objectives when warranted.
Facilitates content and quality assurance reviews to enhance or modify existing learning programs.
Establishes learning effectiveness benchmarking guidelines and monitors training programs to identify areas of improvement as related to learning outcomes.
Interacts regularly with membership to establish relationships and advises/educates members on training needs and processes.
Stays abreast of developments in learning and development, technology, and performance improvement and systematically applies them to ASA educational offerings.
Maintains a mastery over core technologies used by ASA Education Foundation, including Learning Management System (LMS).
Manages LMS in the capacity as main administrator, including content control, basic user management, UX/display and system maintenance/updates.
Provides course troubleshooting support to customers for all educational offerings, internal or externally deployed.
Manages external deployment of ASA content to member-hosted learning management systems.
Manages inclusion of external manufacturer content in learning management system, including vendor relationship maintenance.
Identifies and implements innovative technologies to enhance learning reach and impact.

Consults with and makes recommendations to members for education and training solutions.
Assists in the successful achievement of all ASAEF and ASA team goals.

Essential Job Requirements
Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related field from an accredited college or university, or commensurate experience.
Expert in adult learning theory, implementation, and execution.
Expert level proficiency with digital authoring tools, Storyline preferred.
Proficient in video editing, audiovisual manipulation and output.
Proficient in graphic design and working knowledge of application.
Proficient knowledge of Learning Management System (LMS) functionality and systems architecture.
Working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot SCORM and SCORM delivery mechanisms for learners.
Working knowledge of HTML/HTML5.
Understanding of xAPI functionality.
Advanced computer knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
