Program Director, Immunizations

REPORTS TO: Associate Executive Director, Illinois Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP) SUMMARY: The Program Director provides direction and primary support for the ICAAP public health program focused on immunizations. The immunization education program is grant funded and serves as a primary venue of education of physicians and other healthcare professionals on pediatric immunizations, infectious diseases, and related issues in pediatric and family practice offices, hospitals, health systems, county health departments, and other venues throughout Illinois. ICAAP’s immunizations program also provides training opportunities for Chicago and Illinois Vaccines for Children (VFC) providers. Duties include supervising all aspects of grants and contracts associated with the program including development of program and grant deliverables in accordance with funders, leading curriculum and materials development and promotion, securing continuing medical education (CME) and continuing education (CE) credits for trainings while adhering to the requirements of the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), facilitating the scheduling and logistic arrangements of programs, developing and monitoring budgets and expenditures, securing funding through the development and management of grant and contract opportunities, and writing monthly, quarterly and year-end reports as required by contracts, funders, and ICAAP. The position also manages ICAAP education activities such as the annual immunizations conference. The position will supervise at least one staff, several consultants, project advisory committees, and will serve as the primary staff contact for ICAAP on immunizations. The director should expect to work with pediatricians, family physicians, and other stakeholders in developing a robust immunization program and lead the organization in reducing disparities and improving immunization rates for children and families throughout Illinois. In addition, the Director serves as the main contact on immunization related issues by serving as a liaison to other groups, responding to member requests, and handles other duties as assigned to support the mission of ICAAP. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required and at least five years of relevant work experience required. Master’s degree in public health, nursing, or related field strongly preferred. EXPERIENCE: Five or more years work experience in a public health capacity. This position requires attention to detail, excellent writing and organizational skills, and ability and desire to multitask. Must have ability to work with multiple stakeholders to meet needs of program. Must have grant writing, budgeting, and grant management experience. Knowledge of medical education and CME, learning management systems, public health practices, immunizations and/or needs of physician practices desired. Experience working with physicians and other health care professionals as well as working with volunteers desired.

Additional Salary Information: ICAAP seeks to offer a competitive salary based on organizational budget. This is a full-time position. ICAAP offers a flexible work schedule with hours to be determined in collaboration with supervisor and that falls within the parameters determined by the Chapter. ICAAP offers a full benefit package with low employee cost sharing including health, dental, vision, short and long term disability, 401K modest match, tuition reimbursement, and more. ICAAP seeks to support a diverse and inclusive working environment. Occasional travel is required, particularly in the Chicago metro area and occasionally to pediatric practices and other sites in mid and downstate Illinois. The position is grant-funded and thereby subject to conditions of the contract(s). The position will terminate upon failure of ICAAP to secure continued or additional project funding to support the position beyond the initial project period.
