The Director of Professional Development/Member Services will oversee a broad portfolio of workshops, conferences and events that benefit the personal/professional growth of MassNAHRO’s members and ensure the delivery of valuable member services in alignment with MassNAHRO’s mission, strategic plan, values, and revenue goals.
Essential tasks of position:
Workshops & Seminars
Work with MassNAHRO & NERC PD/MS Committees and memberships to identify training needs and develop programs to meet current and anticipated needs.
Recruit qualified trainers/instructors, and coordinate with them dates and locations for all MassNAHRO & NERC/NAHRO certification classes, in-person and virtual trainings, and seminars.
Work closely with trainers/instructors on schedule-setting and preparation of materials.
Coordinate staff coverage of in-person and virtual trainings.
Conferences & Events
Work with MassNAHRO & NERC/NAHRO PD/MS Committees to identify timely and relevant conference sessions, presenters, and locations.
Manage site selection and contract development for MassNAHRO & NERC/NAHRO conferences & events.
Solicit vendors, advertisers, sponsors for MassNAHRO and NERC/NAHRO in-person and virtual conferences in order to meet revenue goals.
Work closely with function staff in the planning, coordinating and logistics of conference set-up, event management and post-event break-down.
Handle and/or delegate all aspects of set-up, registration, support of presenters, exhibitors, speakers and all on-site operations.
Produce conference agendas in coordination with PD/MS Committees.
Develop & manage the MassNAHRO conference app including the online agenda, exhibit hall, sponsor listing, Attendee list, and the program boo.
Ensure that websites list updated information.
Lead MassNAHRO member relations’ efforts, strategizing, planning for, and implementing activities and services that provide value to members and promote the Association’s initiatives and growth.
Write articles as needed for MassNAHRO and quarterly NERC newsletters.
Serve as a resource and provide support to MassNAHRO & NERC/NAHRO Boards and memberships.
Liaison to Committees
Coordinate meetings of MassNAHRO and NERC Professional Development/Member Services Committees and others as assigned.
Assist on other committees or sub-committees as directed.
Manage and supervise Member Services Manager.
Manage and supervise permanent and temporary staff in the absence of the Executive Director.
Represent MassNAHRO & NERC/NAHRO at local, regional, and national events as needed.
Work on special projects and other duties and responsibilities as the Executive Director sees fit.
3-5+ years’ experience leading/creating professional development programs that build capacity, ideally in the public housing field.
Excellent event and conference planning and coordination skills.
Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a diverse array of MassNAHRO and NERC members and other stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
Familiarity with membership databases, or the ability to quickly learn how to manipulate data.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), online email platforms (Gmail, Outlook, Constant Contact), and desktop publishing.
Knowledge and proficient use of social media (Facebook, Twitter)
Ability to work independently as part of a team
Ability to prioritize among competing goals to execute on deadlines
Excellent organizational skills
Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle for occasional travel.
Ability to lift 40 pounds
Ability to travel to meetings, conferences and events including some occasional overnight stays and/or additional hours.
Telecommuting is allowed.
