Prestigious 75-year-old statewide Midwestern trade association seeks Executive Vice President. The Mechanical Contractors Association of Indiana represents mechanical and plumbing contractors who install plumbing and piping systems in everything from large refineries to neighborhood grocery stores – using union plumbers and pipefitters. Compensation package includes base pay up to $180,000, plus full benefits based on experience level for the successful candidate
Mandatory skills include: the ability to read and work with people and demonstrate creative leadership; strong self-motivation; the ability to work without day-to-day supervision; an interest in learning; and the ability to motivate/lead volunteer leaders and staff.
The ideal candidate will possess education/experience in non-profit association management; knowledge of the construction industry; educational programming, meeting planning and labor relations/collective bargaining in a union environment. The preferred candidate will possess strong experience in at least one of the aforementioned areas, along with a background in education, law, and lobbying/government affairs.
The EVP is responsible for the administration of the state association, including five chapters. Duties include all daily association operations: planning of meetings and events; recordkeeping; finances and insurance. Responsibilities also include support for collective bargaining with five local unions; day to day relations and union contract administration; participation in joint labor/management committees; and participation in joint Taft-Hartley funds.
Note: this position requires 25-30% travel – primarily in-state, but with several national meetings.
