The American Trucking Associations has an immediate opening for the Executive Director, National Accounting & Finance Council. This position supports the council mission to provide sound technical support for ATA’s advocacy program in the areas of taxation, finance, accounting, technology, and risk management. The incumbent in this role will collect, produce and disseminate industry news of interest to Council members. This position also keeps the trucking industry abreast of news and developments occurring within the council.
This position may interact with ATA staff at all levels, ATA and council members, federal, state, and local agencies for tax and financial information, the general public and other motor carrier or accounting, H.R., tax, finance, technology, or insurance related organizations. This position supervises other ATA staff when working on behalf of NAFC efforts and operates within the NAFC budget. This position assists in the preparation of the annual budget.
This position will provide high quality technical information using professional accounting, tax, insurance, H.R., technology, and finance information sources to create trucking industry specific products and services on relevant tax, accounting, and finance issues. This person will be an association leader on member work projects including NAFC publications and task force development The Executive Director, NAFC will work to staff the NAFC subcommittee. The incumbent will oversee council communications staff in planning and coordination of webinars, social media communications, biweekly member bulletins and special alerts.
BS/BA in finance, accounting, government/policy or related business field required;
Minimum of 6-8 years financial management or risk management experience or risk management, leading to decision making level;
Previously trade association and/or trucking experience highly preferred.
Skill Requirements -
Must have knowledge of the functions of the US treasury, IRS, SEC, FASB and the PCAOB; with knowledge of the surface transportation and logistics industry desired;
Must have sound, analytical, research and writing skills with an entrepreneurial and business orientation;
Previous project supervisory and management experience and skills preferred;
Must have excellent communications and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, event coordination experience, ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, and be customer-service oriented with the ability to work independently;
Advanced working knowledge in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, webpage content management, social media, and Personify or another trade association type database required.
