Association Management Center is seeking a Senior Manager, Education and Learning to join our team! The Senior Manager, Education and Learning will provide oversight and management of the education and learning program in collaboration with stakeholders and staff while ensuring compliance with guidelines and accreditation standards.
This role serves as the Director of Education and Learning for AMC’s client, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM). AAHPM works to provide members and customers with education, resources, and tools they need to succeed in their changing environments and develop professionally. AAHPM’s core purpose is to improve the care of patients with serious or life-threatening conditions through advancement of hospice and palliative medicine. Since 1988, AAHPM has supported hospice and palliative medicine through advancement of clinical practice standards, fostering research, providing education, and through public policy advocacy. Membership includes more than 5,200 physicians and other healthcare professionals.
This position reports directly to the AAHPM’s Chief Learning Officer.
Guide and support a team accountable for the overall planning, implementation, and assessment of the education program.
Analyze the educational and practice needs of hospice and palliative medicine physicians to inform the program.
Oversee and continually improve the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of continuing professional development activities. This includes making recommendations for discontinuing programs in line with strategic and business goals.
Lead and support innovation by demonstrating engagement in and openness to new opportunities in education formats and delivery.
Manage an education team of four staff. Support the professional development of education team.
Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support and advance equity and justice through diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives of AAHPM and AMC.
Collaborate internally and externally to develop activities that will support the learning needs of members and constituents and advance the CME mission of AAHPM and the collaborating organizations.
Collaborate with marketing staff in the preparation of content for education product/program brochures, website, and marketing materials.
Oversee quality control and consistency of processes and documentation for all accredited activities in line with the CME Mission and organizational strategic plan.
Manage the process of activity development by partnering with volunteers and staff to transition from vetted concepts to deliverable activities. Includes building and utilizing formal and informal relationships to gain consensus on action plans, deliverables, and budgets.
Build relationships with thought leaders within the field of hospice and palliative medicine including a network of reliable content experts.
Oversee staff and onsite educational components of conferences and courses including content, faculty, and evaluation.
Assumes leadership role in the preparation of accreditation applications and documentation.
Develop and manage budgets to ensure revenues and expenses align with strategic business plans.
Participate in ongoing management activities and professional peer networks that support this role and professional development.
Act as liaison to other departments regarding the education program.
Prepare reports on program and activities needed.
Forecast, implement, monitor and evaluate the budget areas for products, events, training, and other areas as assigned.
Delegate duties to team members when appropriate, with oversight.
Communicate essential information to stakeholders such as other employees, shared services, councils, committees, task forces and Board of Directors, as appropriate.
Promote a cohesive, efficient, and mission-driven atmosphere among staff. Foster positive relations and communications between staff and volunteer leadership.
Contribute to the smooth functioning of the AAHPM team and serve as a positive member of the staff team. Communicate directly, clearly and tactfully with co-workers; seek clarity and ask questions to solve problems. Exhibit diplomacy when dealing with sensitive or confrontational situations.
Support and collaborate within AMC and represent AMC when participating in external association activities.
Actively work to provide cross-coverage when co-workers are absent or during times of increased workload.
Execute special projects and other general responsibilities as directed by AAHPM’s CEO.
5-7 years minimum experience developing and implementing educational and clinical training programs.
Demonstrated ability to plan and implement CME programs in a variety of innovative settings and formats. Experience with abstract and learning management systems a plus.
Experience working within a non-profit, health care, medical education or medical specialty society.
Successful integration of adult learning principles and distance learning education.
Able to organize and manage multiple projects and priorities.
Previous supervisory experience managing staff of different levels.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Solid computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems required.
