What you'll do:
Monitor and evaluates policies, personnel, organization, work processes, products, and procedures designed to ensure high-quality, innovative, cost-effective, and timely online publication of journals and other publications
Oversee and assist in the development, maintenance, and analysis of manuscript tracking programs for journal peer review, production, and Annual Meeting manuscript solicitation. Provide recommendations to Directors as needed; ensures accurate and timely delivery of reporting and production schedules
Develop and document procedures that improve overall publication workflow and efficiency, evaluate online publishing and workflow software, and make recommendations and plans for implementation
Ensure that online journals take maximum advantage of the features, functionality, and analytics available on the online hosting platform, as well as third party integrations for the benefit of readers, authors, journal reputations and business, and internal workflow
Oversee and assist with establishing procedures for selection of manuscripts each year at the annual meeting, working with IT on system improvements
Analyze usage and other data from the online journals, peer review, and production database to create reports, keep track of trends, and deliver information when and where it’s needed
Assist the Directors in ensuring that online journals and peer review meet the requirements of policymaking bodies in scholarly publishing, academic institutions, medical education, government, and RSNA content delivery
Supervise operations and online journals staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, developing, and mentoring; coordinate peer review training including cross training of journal processes; establish plan for revised peer review and online publication workflow as needed
Establish and monitor the budgets for peer review operations and online journal publication
Serve as a resource to and participant in RSNA staff committees as appropriate including as a technical contact for the department in RSNA-wide initiatives
What you'll need:
6 or more years of experience in publishing environment
Proficient in medical terminology and medical journal publishing process
Advanced proficiency in online publishing technology, and manuscript tracking systems (Experience with Atypon, ScholarOne Manuscripts, and/or ProduXion Manager a bonus)
Exceptional conceptual and technical knowledge of online infrastructure and user interfaces
Strong reporting and analytical background
Proven ability to improve operational efficiency within a department
Strong management skills including training/supervision
Capable of initiative and self-direction
