Reports to: Executive Director Division: Member and Public Engagement
Description: The Associate Executive Director of Member and Public Engagement (AED) contributes to the overall administration, leadership and cross functional strategy execution for programs such as but not limited to membership acquisition and retention, driving public awareness and knowledge, strategic marketing and communications, increasing advocacy and meeting services to position the organization for continued growth. Key strategies for this position to drive forward in years to come will be connecting the public to the industry through existing and newly created tools, as well as, strengthening brand recognition and demand of WQA public resources.
In collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, s/he is responsible for guiding the development and implementation of the Association’s programs, policies and practices while promoting an organizational culture that fosters collaboration, open communications, teamwork and a common organizational vision.
Essential Responsibilities: • As a member of the Executive Team, participate in the overall development of the organization’s strategic plans and initiatives by providing input and leadership on membership and public engagement programs. • Manage, motivate, and mentor the divisional team responsible for Member and Public Engagement. In Partnership with the departmental teams, the Associate Executive Director is responsible for: • Develop member and public engagement strategies designed to enhance WQA’s value proposition for its members and all target markets to grow and retain value and relevancy for all customers of WQA. • Developing and implementing strategies/plans to advance all member and public engagement programs and initiatives. • Developing and measuring key metrics related to all member and public engagement programs and initiatives. Provide periodic updates and status reports to the Executive Team regarding performance against metrics. • Providing quarterly member and public engagement program reports to the Executive Director and Leadership Team. • Instill collaboration, teamwork, and open communications within the division, across the Technical Program Division and all other WQA Divisions and Departments to improve efficiencies and productivity among all organizational areas. • Determine the divisional staffing and liaison representatives for appropriate committees and task forces related to the Member and Public Engagement Division. • Oversee the Member and Public Engagement divisional budgets. Ensure revenue meets or exceeds predetermined goals and objectives. • Identify and implement operational efficiencies to reduce costs, improve customer/member satisfaction, improve quality and remain competitive. • Foster an organizational culture which promotes employee engagement by creating, implementing and supporting programs designed to engage and retain employees.
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, business development, non-profit administration, or related discipline required; Master’s degree in same or similar field, strongly preferred. • Minimum five to eight years of public relations, business development and cross functional strategy execution experience with proven track record of measurable success required. • Minimum five years of experience with associations or in the water treatment industry including significant association involvement, trade association experience preferred. • Minimum five years of experience managing and developing professional staff; strong teambuilding, staff development and engagement skills. • Demonstrated project management skills. • Ability to build strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders. • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to deliver clear and effective messages to all stakeholders. • Excellent written, organizational and customer service skills required. • Experience developing and managing budgets and meeting pre-defined targets and organizational goals and objectives.
Advanced computer skills required; Microsoft Office, social networking, database management.
