Position Description & Responsibilities
Title: Manager of Digital & eLearning (exempt)
Supervisor: Director of Knowledge, Learning & Assessment
Overview: Work with member leaders and staff to create, implement and evaluate a variety of professional educational resources for physicians, residents and students to be delivered online, both live and on-demand. Expand the online menu of educational resources to fill in the gaps in the continuum of member knowledge and co-lead the innovation of ACOFP’s continuing medical education.
Founded in 1950 the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians is a professional medical association representing approximately 20,000 practicing osteopathic family physicians, residents and students throughout the United States. The organization works to promote excellence in osteopathic family medicine through quality education, visionary leadership and responsible advocacy. The association currently has a staff of 18 full-time employees with its headquarters in Arlington Heights.
Inform, support, and monitor department related actions of the strategic and annual operating plans.
Lead the development and expansion of new and existing, innovative eLearning programming.
Partner with Manager of Professional Development & Credentialing on projects that involve digital learning (e.g., certificate of training programs and physician skill assessments) with specific focus on instructional design and implementation via eLearning platforms.
In conjunction with other KLA managers, support the online conference portions of Annual Convention and lead the digital, didactic portion of the IOU convention planning process.
Regularly audit eLearning content through the LMS and schedule updates of content or permanent removal of content.
Identify needs of physician members for CME and support program chairs for speaker and topic recommendations for ACOFP educational programs.
Manage OMTeaching process for residency programs and COMs; including coordinating marketing with the support of Communications and Engagement, processing updated residency rosters with the support of Membership, and sending access collateral to programs, faculty, residents and students.
Utilize eLearning course authoring software to create, convert or reimagine existing content for the LMS.
Research and implement new instructional strategies to remain competitive in the delivery of education; research emerging technologies and their application to teaching and learning.
Plan, operate and evaluate a schedule of interactive online learning programs (e.g., webinars, self-paced, on-demand).
Transition all recorded assets from live programs to the ACOFP eLearning Center (LMS).
Manage the recording and editing process for all online assets (e.g., podcasts, videos) in conjunction with KLA Coordinator.
Plan and oversee the development and implementation of Train-the-Trainer programs relating to the Next Level Bootcamp and other relevant products.
Establish and maintain strategic relationships with vendors, medical experts, member-physicians, academic medical centers and college of osteopathic medicine, AOA and AOA Affiliates.
Co-manage the research and planning to update and create CME programming relevant to current and prospective attendees with Director of KLA and Manager of Professional Development and Credentialing.
Oversee all ACOFP digital and eLearning CME programming for compliance with AOA/ACCME Guidelines. Maintain proper CME paperwork as regulated by AOA/ACCME CME guidelines pending an audit.
Develop and manage related budgets in concert with Director.
Supervise one employee and manage assigned contractors.
Manage assigned special committees, ad hoc workgroups and task forces.
Support ACOFP’s knowledge management documentation process by capturing and maintaining related procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, public health, or related field or equivalent experience. Five years’ experience in a health care and/or adult education setting, and experience with adult education and instructional design. Association education experience preferred. Must demonstrate ability to develop and implement new educational resources, both in-person and virtual, based on member needs.
Skills & Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong time management, organizational skills and attention to detail. The ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment is essential. Ability to apply current best-practices in instructional design and adult learning theory are required. Candidate must be technologically savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office applications and speaker management and event related software. Knowledge of and proficiency with association management systems (e.g., iMIS) and eLearning technology preferred. Demonstrated success as a team leader and collaborative team participant.
