SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary function of this position is to act as a resource and consultant to chapter staff and elected leaders in the key areas of membership and chapter operations. The Strategist maintains one-on-one relationships with chapter leaders and staff and applies knowledge in the key areas to create and implement customized plans to enhance the capacity of the chapters and their current needs. The Strategist analyzes data from various reports to identify chapters and the membership areas that are most critical and in need of guidance. The Strategist also shares information gleaned from AAFP staff to ensure current resources meet chapter needs and appropriate resources are developed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree or through equivalent work experience, plus at least 4-6 years of related professional experience. At least five years association experience highly preferred with specialized knowledge in the key areas of membership and operations. Required skills and experience include: volunteer management; experience with association membership development and chapter operations; experience speaking in front of groups and planning meetings; and experience in communicating information (whether in print or verbally). Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, strategic thinking, oral and written communications skills, project management, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work with little supervision necessary.  CAE certification preferred.

TRAVEL:  Possible 10-15 days travel annually
