JOB SUMMARY

The Associate, NLC provides advanced level professional program support to the NLC in meeting its goals and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides customer service support and provides acquired subject matter knowledge on NLC issues. Responds to information inquiries including telephone, written, email, and online general information requests.
  • Represents NCSBN and NLC at conferences / exhibitions. Serves as a presenter at national or state student nurse conferences, upon request. Presents live NLC public webinars, as needed.
  • Coordinates logistical needs for department including development of agendas, scripts for committees, meetings, conferences, webinars and relevant meeting material development. Staffs teleconference meetings in the absence of the director, as requested. Serves as minute taker for Commission, NLC Executive Committee, other committee meetings and as assigned. Maintains strategic plan progress tracking and develops update reports.
  • Drafts, proofreads, edits and provides support in the development of NLC documents (manuals, publications, communications, reports). Prepares presentation material for public speaking and training sessions, including implementation of session evaluations and results reporting.  Drafts e-newsletter articles for publication and authors annual report.  Participates in and serves as a liaison to NCSBN cross-functional teams for the creative development of NLC educational and social media content and engagement monitoring.  Gauges and tracks member and stakeholder learning needs and generates learning tools such as Tip of the Week content and development of learning exercises.
  • Coordinates data collection efforts including survey creation and distribution, coordination of returns, oversight of deadlines. Maintains oversight of vendor performance and contracts.  Tracks departmental expenses and coordinates member expense reports.  Facilitates budget reclass as needed.
  • Updates and maintains the accuracy of reference documents, policies and procedures, rules, minutes, meeting attendance records, NLC compliance tables/charts and meeting calendars. Maintains selected databases, electronic files, online resources, and paper documentation.  Disseminates educational resources.  Accountable for record file maintenance; adhering to retention policies. Maintains history of NLC and milestones, committee membership and election results.
  • Serves as web editor for NLC website. Assists in the development and maintenance of department web, Compass and Hive pages. Manages online rulemaking processes and nomination /election processes. Assists with web research for best practice development, data collection and reporting for special projects.  Seeks NLC endorsements from new stakeholder organizations.
  • Manages flow of legal project work and deadlines. Serves as liaison with Commission legal counsel.
  • Creates and maintains Excel spreadsheets, including fiscal impact reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in public policy, business, LAS or communications, or equivalent amount of training and experience is required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years professional administrative and project management experience in business, or a member-based nonprofit association, especially one with a public protection mission.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, technical, organizational, customer service, problem solving, analytical and critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful and innovative with the ability to work collectively and independently to resolve issues and ensure that assignments and projects are accurately completed within established deadlines.
  • Strong sense of diplomacy and ability to master necessary skills and comprehend operations of programs and projects.
  • Ability to conduct and facilitate effective meetings with all stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of occupational licensure, credentialing or accreditation very helpful.
  • Ability to establish a positive working rapport with members and staff. Flexibility in activities is imperative.
  • Intermediate: MS Office, Internet, web-based products, survey and slide presentation applications.
  • Moderate travel may be required.
