CMI, the association management division of MJH Life Sciences, provides trusted and dynamic management services for associations, foundations, and non-profits in the healthcare field.  CMI manages the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC)- the leading education and advocacy organization for the cancer care community and the Oncology State Societies at ACCC- a network of 22 Chapters that provide a state- and regional-level focus into the complexities of cancer delivery.

SUMMARY:    

Directs the overall planning and strategy for all in-person, hybrid, and virtual activities developed for all CMI’s clients, including the ACCC National Oncology Conference, Annual Meeting and Cancer Center Business Summit, Oncology Reimbursement Meetings, and the various Oncology State Societies’ annual conferences.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, organize, and produce all ACCC and OSS in-person, hybrid, and virtual events.
  • Provide leadership for the Live Events team and develop departmental goals to further CMI’s goals and objectives, as well as those of its clients.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and subject-matter expert for all virtual event planning and technical production across events.
  • Prepare and monitor annual budgets for ACCC’s meetings.
  • Research, evaluate and negotiate with convention facilities and hotels for all ACCC national meetings
  • Track and evaluate all signed ACCC and OSS hotel contracts for relevance and financial exposure.
  • Identify, evaluate, negotiate and contract with vendors for essential meeting services including housing, technology, mobile app, etc. Monitor contract commitments and renewals and develop RFPs as needed.
  • Evaluate events on an ongoing basis and recommend enhancements in format, schedule, and execution to improve the attendee experience.
  • Research and evaluate trends in the landscape and implement solutions to elevate ACCC and OSS’s in-person and virtual meeting offerings.
  • Function as a coach to colleagues on technical, operational, and team behavior issues.
  • Promote cross-departmental communication to enhance member engagement, infrastructure and technology development, and collaboration opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain senior level relationships with relevant external partner organizations to strengthen and promote the work of CMI’s clients.
  • Aid and support additional CMI activities and staff as requested to maintain an informed, efficient and timely workflow.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) preferred.
  • Several years of conference and event planning experience in the nonprofit community, with either an association or an association management company.
  • Exhibition and sponsorship management experience.

SKILLS

  • Strong project management skills; exceptional organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with best business practices and trends in the hospitality and meeting planning industry.
  • Ability to handle high-volume, production-based work environment, effectively managing deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to lead by example and collaborate with direct reports, cross-functional, and internal teams in a professional manner.
  • Experience and ability to interact with senior business executives.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership, management, and mentoring skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills necessary to run large and complex medical meetings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel required. Database experience helpful.  Ability to learn new technology as required.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of hotel, convention center, and vendor contract agreements.
  • Ability to prepare, justify and maintain meeting and event budgets.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound, prudent decisions.
  • Ability to meet deadlines of assigned deliverables.
