POSITION SUMMARY:

The Global Strategy Manager is responsible for working with leadership to create and execute a global membership strategy, including recruitment, retention, and engagement of members outside the United States. This includes developing strategies to increase membership outside the US, support expanding the AAN’s global presence and outreach, and collaborating with international neurology organizations. This collaborative position works with departments across AAN to improve international member engagement and satisfaction. This position manages the AAN Global Strategy Subcommittee.


ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

International Membership Activities   

•    Establish the AAN’s global engagement and volunteer strategy 

•    Implement recommendations to expand the AAN’s mission globally through increased recruitment, retention and engagement of global neurology and neuroscience professionals

•    Develop new relationships, and strengthen existing ones, with well-established international neurology professional organizations

•    Serve as key staff contact for all international efforts, including relationships with international and regional societies

•    Evaluate and make organizational recommendations on customized and translated AAN member benefits for specific regions of the world

•    Oversee AAN international exhibiting strategy

•    Oversee AAN International Scholarship Program

•    Oversee AAN international small grants program


International Membership Recruitment and Retention   

•    Oversee international membership recruitment and retention efforts

•    Evaluate and pilot new international membership models

•    Responsible for meeting established metrics related to membership growth, retention, and engagement for members outside the US 


Committee Liaison  

•    Serve as primary staff liaison to the Global Strategy Subcommittee

•    Develop agendas, oversee projects, manage meeting logistics and communications for assigned subcommittees and work groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Communications or related field is required

•    Certified Association Executive (CAE) is preferred


Experience: 

•    Minimum of 5 years of experience dedicated to volunteer or membership coordination is required

•    Experience with an association is preferred

•    Program Management experience is preferred

•    Experience working with international customers is preferred


Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for qualification requirements.


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

•    Ability to handle confidential information is required

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required

•    Strong attention to detail is required

•    The ability to effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with people of various cultural backgrounds is required

•    Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required

•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required

•    Knowledge of Fonteva (Salesforce) Customer Relationship Management system is preferred

•    Knowledge of Higher Logic Online Community platform is preferred

 

ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION:

FLSA Classification:  Exempt

Travel Requirements:   Occasional travel required – approximately 5%. Ability to legally travel outside of the United States, particularly but not limited to Canada.  

Location: Minneapolis, MN, and is identified as hybrid (required to work in the office with the ability to work remotely part of the week)

Schedule:  Occasional evening and weekend required

Physical Requirements:  Standard office setting, with ability to sit for long periods of time, occasional use of stairs; regular use of computer and office equipment, lifting up to 10 lbs.  Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. at live conferences and ability to stand for long periods of time. The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
