The Position

• The Executive Director of Governance Services is responsible for developing and implementing effective corporate governance practices and overseeing the structure of the organization’s Boards and Committees.
• Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this leader will oversee two direct reports.
• The position will play a crucial role in shaping effective corporate governance practices, managing board and committee structures, and maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
• The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with extensive governance experience and a demonstrated ability to thrive in demanding environments. They should be detail-oriented, skilled in project management, and capable of overseeing multiple initiatives simultaneously. Familiarity with the Brown Act as it applies to board operations is highly preferred.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Must have at least five years of experience providing management support at the director level, preferably working with publicly elected or nonprofit boards.
