MEMA is seeking a Sr. Manager, Human Resources.
This position requires the individual to have a minimum of 3 years of previous and current experience as a Human Resources professional to be considered.
Location: Washington DC (must reside in DC, MD or VA) Quarterly travel to two other office locations - Southfield, MI and Research Triangle Park, NC.
Work Schedule: Hybrid schedule – Tuesday thru Thursday in office – Remote Monday & Friday.

At MEMA, the Manager of Human Resources plays a critical role in ensuring the well-being of employees, aligning HR practices with company goals, and maintaining legal and regulatory compliance. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with knowledge of employment laws. A bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of HR experience are preferred. Experience with ADP Payroll and BambooHR HRIS are preferred.
In this role, you will:
HR Management, Strategy and Planning:
Oversee employee relations, performance management, and benefits.
Collaborate with senior management to align HR initiatives with organizational goals, staffing changes and performance strategies.
Stay informed on HR trends and recommend policy changes.
Ensure the company is compliant with current employment laws and regulations.
Analyze HR metrics to inform strategic decisions.
Maintain and update the MEMA Employee Handbook.
Employee Engagement and Culture:
Foster a collaborative and engaging workforce culture.
Build relationships with employees and managers to understand their challenges and celebrate their successes through phone calls, Teams video calls and in-person meetings.
Facilitate understanding of a matrix organizational structure.
Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Implement and improve initiatives to boost employee morale and engagement such as HR Coffee Talks, Manager Cohort Talks and Employee Appreciation Day lunches.
Promote MEMA as a Great Place to Work.
Support employee work-life balance.
Organize employee recognition and wellness programs.
Training, Development and Performance:
Act as a mentor and provide coaching and guidance to employees as needed.
Oversee the development and training needs of employees.
Manage the annual performance review process in Fall.
Manage the company mentorship program.
Promote high-quality work.
Benefits & Compensation:
Develop and implement HR compensation and benefit policies and processes.
Administer compensation, insurance benefits, and other benefit programs.
Collaborate with vendors and brokers on benefits design.
Manage the annual benefits enrollment process in Fall.
HR Financial and Administrative:
Manage the HR budget and expenditures.
Maintain employee records in the ADP payroll, BambooHR employee portal and Excel files as needed to keep them updated.
Utilize BambooHR to add new hires, terminations, set up and track employee PTO, send announcements to employees, share company policies and maintain the company organization chart on a timely basis.
Reviewing, approving and processing vendor invoices and your own expense reports on a timely basis.
Create reports in PowerPoint, Excel and BambooHR and share with management on a reoccurring basis.
Maintain the Human Resources tasks and calendar items in Monday.com on a weekly basis.
Promote the company’s Cybersecurity program to employees including managing the KnowBe4 Cybersecurity awareness training program.
Talent Strategy:
Work with internal hiring managers to identify staffing needs and manage recruitment processes.
Recruit and identify qualified candidates from a variety of sources.
Prepare and place job ads and manage candidate interview process.
Conduct background checks and reference checks.
Prepare offer letters and new hire documentation.
Utilize BambooHR to share new hire onboarding forms with employees.
Manage the onboarding and offboarding of employees.
Promote MEMA as a Great Place to Work.

Education and Experience:
3-5 years of generalist experience in human resource management including payroll, benefits, recruitment, employee culture/wellbeing, coaching and 401(k) management is required.
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Quarterly travel is required to two office locations - Southfield, MI and Research Triangle Park, NC.
Ability to handle physical demands such as travel, lifting and extended sitting.
