About MNCAR
MNCAR is a $2mil trade association that serves the dynamic and far-reaching commercial real estate industry. Members include a community of 1300+ commercial real estate brokers and vendors throughout Minnesota. MNCAR is headquartered in Edina, Minnesota and has a staff team of seven top-notch professionals.
Each year, the organization draws hundreds of brokers to its monthly breakfast programs, regular lunch programs, annual awards program, and annual Commercial Real Estate Expo.
MNCAR owns a for-profit technology company which provides tech services to commercial real estate practitioners.
The Executive Officer will manage three separately incorporated entities:
The Minnesota Commercial of REALTORS, which includes membership in MNCAR, the Minnesota Association of REALTORS (MAR), and the National Association of REALTORS. This non-profit association has About 500 members.
The Minnesota Commercial of Real Estate. Members belong only to the local MNCAR association. This non-profit association has About 800 members.
The MNCAR Exchange. This is a for-profit technology company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Minnesota Commercial Association of Real Estate. It provides access to a nationally acclaimed commercial property database, where members list properties, research client needs, communicate via a members’ only broadcast e-mail system, and can access a fully researched, appraiser-verified sales comparables system. The MNCAR Exchange has approximately 1600 users, most of whom are MNCAR members and utilizes a platform owned by Moody’s and currently is contracted for service through 2030.
MNCAR members are committed to high ethical standards. Both Associations enforce a Code of Ethics and provide mediation and arbitration services.

Key Functions of the Executive Officer
The Executive Officer serves as chief executive officer of the Association and provides the overall vision, leadership and motivation to the Board, employees and members of MNCAR. The Executive Officer reports to the boards of directors of each organization, and is responsible for executing on board strategies. The Executive Officer is both the senior external spokesperson for MNCAR as well as its internal manager. The Executive Director will conduct himself/herself ethically with poise and good judgment in performing these key functions:
Working with Volunteer Leadership
Guide the organization by developing positive working relationships with volunteer leaders to address organizations’ missions and members’ needs in an acceptable and timely manner.
Keep Boards focused on strategic issues to fulfill MNCAR’s mission and members’ needs, provide background information, make recommendations and work with the Board in determining strategic policies.
Executing Strategic Initiatives
Direct projects and programs in a cost-efficient manner in accordance with the culture and brand of the organization. Implement decisions and policies approved by the Board, communicate objectives and strategies to employees, and coordinate duties of committees and staff.
Maintain effective internal and external relationships and communicate timely and effectively with Board and other volunteer leaders.
Act in a manner consistent with the mindset that the volunteer leaders and members are the ultimate customers.
Financial Oversight
Oversee financial aspects of the organization, conduct operations to achieve the budget plan, maintain accountability and financial controls.
Provide financial reports to the Executive Committee and Boards on a regular basis.
Managing Team
Effectively lead all MNCAR team members, including volunteer leaders, staff and vendors. Create strong working relationships with team members in order to attract and retain talented employees to implement the projects, programs and events that organization undertakes.
The desired qualities and attributes that this new leader will possess to achieve maximum results are:
3 – 5 years of proven, results-oriented association leadership success.
3 -5 years of strategic and tactical management and leadership skills to support strategic plan results and growth of the next generation of leadership for the organization.
Proven ability to consistently support mission and vision in the face of board leadership changes.
Up-to-date knowledge of technologies, particularly current and emerging internet and web technologies .
Outstanding communications skills.
Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and personnel management.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, learn new areas quickly, take ownership of issues/projects, develop recommendations, align with team and execute.
Track record in successfully creating and implementing strategies with demonstrated sound business judgment.
The ability to interface effectively with multiple levels of management, ranging from senior corporate executives to operational staff.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Knowledge of the commercial real estate industry desired.
